The hooded crows of Warsaw

I have lived in Warsaw all my life and it was normal to meet them everyday. We have plentiful. Then we moved to another town but not very far from Warsaw. We live in the new place for four years already. And believe me I have never spot a hooded crow here. I  thought they are everywhere before.

This is how they open walnuts on the car. I have seen it many times and luckily one day I taped it.

See my other post about the bird Julia, also from Warsaw:

  1. Interestingly, when I went for a walk in the lower part of our city, I always saw clever crows throwing nuts onto the road at the traffic light. When the light turned red, they would come down and pick up the nuts that were crushed by cars when the light was green. Kind regards, Jasna, the old gardener

    1. I have never seen it personally but someone told me similar story. I think it was my mother... She saw a crow leaving a walnut on the street to be crushed by car. Nice to hear from you :-)
